Description

Serious cases are always taken care of immediately and, therefore, patients waiting at the Emergency services are those whose condition is less severe. Thus, the order of the visit does not depend on the order of arrival, but on the number and condition of the patients already being taken care of at that moment, and of the priority determined by the triage performed a few minutes after arriving at the hospital.
This selection system is an international health protocol which allows classification of patients into five severity levels, whereby number 1 is the most serious and urgent and levels 4-5 are the least serious and do not imply risk of life to the patient.
In order to avoid unnecessary queuing up, as well as showing the number of patients waiting to be taken care of and the waiting time for each Emergency speciality, www.csdm.cat provides information about alternatives for those less severe cases requiring urgent primary care:

– Between 8:00 and 20:00, it is best to go to the closest CAP.
- Outside those times, they should go to the CAPs which are open 24 hours: CAP El Maresme, CAP Premià de Mar, CAP Vilassar de Mar and CAP Arenys de Mar.
– www.csdm.cat shows all of their addresses and contact telephone numbers.

* If in doubt, it is recommended to always call 061, the Catsalut health care telephone platform.
