First SISCAT Centre Implementing Document Signature through Touch Tablets
The Hospital de Campdevànol provides an answer to the Personal Data Protection Act (in Spanish, LOPD), through the implementation of the biometric signature, applicable to documents that refer to that law, as well as to informed consents. The system allows the safe and reliable identification of signatures, the proper storage and transmittal of information and it ensures the efficiency and sustainability of the documents.

Description
The Hospital was the first SISCAT centre in implementing the use of touch tablets for the signature of documents in Catalonia.
First, a pilot test was started in the Surgery department for the signature of informed consents and other LOPD-related documents, which enabled the digital signature of over 700 documents. In general, the test had such a positive feedback that the centre thought it appropriate to extend it to the rest of the services.
The administrative circuit was streamlined, since it became possible to store the digital document safely in the patient's medical record and, thus, avoid errors and paper documents.
This system allows the registration of biometric data, as well as the speed, angle and pressure of the stroke, which provides the signature with legal validity. As well, a certificate with a private key ensures that the file cannot be modified a posteriori.
